Clarke Chapman have had the pleasure of celebrating engineers of the future during July.
Work Experience
Clarke Chapman hosted two work experience students, Jamie Knox and Hayden Cartner. Both students are hoping to commence their careers in engineering once they have completed their education. During their respective work experience weeks, they both spent time in several departments to get a full appreciation of the world of work in an engineering environment. They spent time in Machining, Assembly and Test, Procurement, Spares, Stores, QHSE and Finance.
Jamie said of his experience at the Gateshead site “there wasn’t a time when I didn’t enjoy being here as it was all interesting, and I hope to return again in the future!”.
Hayden commented “overall this has been a positive learning experience, and it has allowed me to experience a real engineering working environment”.

Electrical Fitting Apprentice Of The Year 2025
Our training partner, SETA (Sunderland Engineering Training Association), hosted an Excellence in Engineering Apprenticeship Awards evening to celebrate some of the incredible talent progressing through their apprenticeship training programmes. We are so proud that one of our very own apprentices, Leon Wilson was awarded first place in the Electrical Fitting Apprentice of the Year 2025. Duncan Ellison, Assembly Business Manager and Maureen Judd, HR Manager also attended the awards ceremony. It was a fabulous event, recognising all the excellent talent of future engineers in the Tyne and Wear area.
Well done to Leon, a brilliant achievement in the first year of his apprenticeship with Clarke Chapman.
