Mackley Pumps test facility located in the Clarke Chapman works in Gateshead was upgraded recently due to the demand in pumps, both new and overhauled. The decision to install new test motors and associated control equipment was based on the reputation of the Mackley Pumps brand, known for its high quality and longevity. More and more clients are again turning to manufacturers of quality products as they evaluate the cheaper alternative products available on the market today.
Mackley Pumps although not considered to be the cheapest, can boast longevity on their pumps having recently received for overhaul/repair, a pump which has been operating for 50 years. A change of impeller, adding an abrasive resistant coating to the inner pump casing “Corracoat” and replacing the bearings/seals has transformed the pump so much so it may well be another 50 years before it returns.
The motor and control equipment of WEG design allows Mackley to test all pumps prior to despatch. The control allows infinite speed control on a variety of different horizontal centrifugal and multistage pumps. At the same time, new safety equipment was installed to protect test operatives during static and dynamic testing of the pumps by way of static test bund and personnel protection screens during dynamic testing in the event of pipe or pump failure.
This Mackley test facility reinforces the strength of Mackley's engineering facility which is one of only a few located in the UK today.
